A Day of Honor and Respect: Bataan Day
War. Battle. Surrender.
Many years ago, the World War II had made its way to our country, the
Philippines. A massive amount of people had died, and lots of brave heroes and
soldiers had sacrificed their lives for the citizens just to claim and witness
peace in the country once again.
Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as “Valor Day” or “Bataan Day”. It is considered as a National Holiday that is commemorated every April 9 to pay our respects and show honor to the people who had went in hardships in battle with the Japanese troops during its occupation during World War II. In leadership of Major General Edward P. King, of the united states army. He, and more than 76,000 soldiers consisting of Filipinos, Chinese and American soldiers, sadly accepted defeat and was forced to surrender to the Japanese at dawn on April 9, 1942.

At this event, many families consider the day as family day. They go out on big places and have fun. Big malls are open, and many people roam around the city and celebrate the day. This signifies that despite all the losses years ago, we need to always have our smiles up high, and think about the bright side. Which is the freedom we hold till now, that we all deserve.
Despite the defeat, it was the best option to end it in
order to not let any more lives get sacrificed. It’s not always victories that
we celebrate, we also need to give our share and time to celebrate in honor for
the ones died in vain.

Good day! I agree that we must keep a positive attitude in order to overcome the challenges we face without feeling downhearted. It's not always about winning, but more about the effort and sacrifices they make to keep the country at peace. Great work!
